I was finding the the YUM way of creating a VM was going nowhere fast, and I was just about to grab a 64bit PC and create a barebones template myself, when I thought to google for "centos vserver template" and BOOM there you popped up. I've simply created base ubuntu install using debootstrap, chrooted into it, removed all packages not needed inside vserver guest, disabled all startup items which were either not needed inside guest or were causing problems and thats all - template ready.
